The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the most sweeping health care legislation passed by the U.S. Congress since the creation of Medicare. The impact and implementation of ACA are currently being worked on by various government entities.
Some provisions of ACA, including insurance market reforms, such as increased access for dependents and the prohibition of lifetime limits on coverage, are already in effect. Other provisions, such as requiring all Americans to obtain health insurance, will not take effect until 2014 and beyond.
